Hi there.

I’m Andrea LaPlant, PHR, SHRM-CP, MBA

I’ve spent the last 16 years building my career in human resources across industries ranging from tech startups and higher education to construction, government contracting, and professional services. I’ve partnered with organizations of all sizes — from 25 to over 2,000 employees — often in HR Director roles where I was responsible for both compliance and process improvement.

Through these experiences, I developed a reputation for being direct, fast-paced, and results-driven — qualities that help me quickly identify problems and implement practical solutions.

Today, I bring that same expertise to LaPlant HR, making progressive, high-quality HR support affordable and accessible. Some clients may rely on me for fractional HR leadership on an ongoing basis, while others can bring me in for specific projects or ad hoc needs — like compliance audits, HRIS implementations, or employee relations challenges. My goal is always the same: to simplify HR, reduce risk, and give leaders the confidence to focus on running their business.

  • My areas of expertise include employment law compliance, recruiting, HRIS and payroll system implementations, investigations, employee relations, and performance management. I bring a level of technical HR expertise that sets me apart — combining a deep knowledge of compliance with a progressive, process-driven, and technology-enabled approach. I work fast, I’m direct, and I don’t waste time on unnecessary complexity.

  • I believe HR should be approachable, trustworthy, and respected. My goal is to simplify HR for clients by using systems and processes that reduce headaches and increase efficiency, freeing up time to focus on supporting leaders and employees. I enjoy taking the work that often feels overwhelming or confusing and making it straightforward, compliant, and practical.

  • After years in traditional HR leadership roles, I realized what I enjoy most is fixing HR challenges — not dealing with office politics. I started this consulting practice to give small and mid-sized businesses access to expert HR support on a fractional, project-based, or as-needed basis. Many organizations don’t need full-time HR leadership, but they do need someone who can step in quickly, solve problems, and leave them better off.

  • I primarily partner with small to mid-sized businesses and startups in Spokane, the Inland Northwest and across Washington state. I can also advise organizations with multi-state operations across the Pacific Northwest. My clients typically need help with general HR oversight, compliance, recruiting, investigations, employee relations, performance management, or HRIS/payroll implementations.

  • I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and my MBA from Eastern Washington University — go Huskies and Eagles! Outside of work, I love spending summers at the lake with my family and going to sporting events. We’re proud season ticket members for the Seattle Mariners, and in the fall you can always find us at our EWU tailgate cheering on the Eagles.

I also stay busy managing several rental investment properties that my husband and I own and being active in the PTG at my daughter’s school. Traveling is another passion — I’ve visited nearly 30 countries and enjoy experiencing different cultures.

My working style is direct, fast-paced, and focused on results. I don’t have the time for fluff, and my clients appreciate that they get clear answers and real results.

High-quality HR doesn’t have to be out of reach.

I offer affordable, progressive HR support designed to meet the needs of businesses of every size. Let’s talk about how I can help.
